The Importance of Passion

As we journey into a new month, I hope you're still filled with the determination and passion that started out 2015. This doesn't have to be the year when 'dreams come true'. Let 2015 be a dynamic year of passion. 

We love this saying: Game on - enter like a champion! 2013 was practice, 2014 was the warm-up, 2015 it's game time!

What is passion? 
It's the dream you cradle in your hands, the vision worth losing sleep over and the powerful force that keeps you going. It's what fills our hearts with meaning, hope, contentment, and excitement. It's what makes life worth it. It can't be faked and it can't be ignored. Passion is loving what you do, what you live for. As Vincent Van Gogh said, "I would rather die of passion than of boredom."

What if you don't have it?
"Inspired", "passionate", and "motivated" are easy words to type out. Hard words to live by. Life can become a numbing monotony we repeat again and again and again. We let go of our dreams and life is gray, heavy, insipid. 

Passion isn't constant. You don't find it, grab it, and whalla, you're passionate! Life is a roller coaster of ups and downs, and it's up to you to absorb each twist and turn, allow life to fuel you. 

Um, okay. How?
The simplest way to start is to believe that you're worth it, believe that you can change, believe  that it can happen. And most importantly, remember that you aren't alone. God promised that He will always be holding your hand, right by your side. And behind you are your family, friends, and support system. 

Passion is a fire in your soul. And every fire starts with a spark. Find yours, in the little things that excite you, the details that capture your imagination and curiosity, the longings of your heart, the knowledge you absorb and can't get enough of. 

For us, music is everything. We're passionate about creating it, sharing it, growing in our knowledge of it. For you? As our song "Limited Edition" says, the sky isn't your limit, it's your window.

Once you know what your dream is, begin to craft your vision. Every day, jot down a few goals -- even one -- and give your day a purpose. Then do that with your week, month, year, life. What do you want your legacy to be -- in your family life or workplace? How do you want to change the world? It isn't all about fame and talent. Supporting organizations that save sexually abused girls or donating clothing to homeless shelters can make the biggest impact.

Learn more about your passion, find friends and mentors who share your interests. Take a stand and make mistakes. Develop an excited, positive outlook.

Even if January wasn't the 'great start' you thought it would be, don't give up. Don't just live because you have to. Scour your world for that spark. Attack every day with enthusiastic purpose. You're the only person that can change your life.
