When God's Answers Don't Make Sense

If God is an all-powerful God and could intervene, and if God is an all-good God and would intervene, why doesn't He?

That's a question we've all wrestled with at least once in our life. What if through your trials, God yearns to show you his love, his mercy, and his grace? Or what if we're experiencing God's hand of discipline in our life?

Take a minute to read Habakkuk 1:5, the Lord's answer to Habakkuk's questions:

“Look at the nations and watch—
    and be utterly amazed.
For I am going to do something in your days
    that you would not believe,
    even if you were told."

Our God isn't ordinary. He is a God of the extraordinary, responding when we least expect it and responding in a way we don't expect. When you pray and God's answer doesn't make sense, remember God's surprising way of working in our lives. You can't fit God into a stereotypical box. He does the extraordinary. He is the extraordinary.

 Hebrews 12:5-7 says:

“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline,
and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,
because the Lord disciplines the one he loves,
and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”

Endure hardship as discipline.
God is treating you as his children.
For what children are not disciplined by their father?

When children make mistakes or do something wrong, parents discipline them. That's how you teach a child what's right and what's wrong.  We're God's children, and discipline is a mark of God's love.

Don't resist or limit God from shaping you. He wants to do things that will razzle and dazzle us. He wants to do what we could have never imagined. And most of all, God wants to build our faith and increase our trust in Him.
